(January 27, 2016) Cape Coral Police responded to a serious injury crash on 1-26-2016 at approximately 8:53 AM.  The crash was located at the busy intersection of SR 78 (NE Pine Island Rd) and NE 24th Ave, Cape Coral.

The Florida Department of Transportation does have plans (in early stages) in place to install a traffic light at that intersection which is much needed.  We hope the traffic light will reduce the number of crashes and injuries that take place at that location.  Our goal is to protect the citizens and visitors traveling the roadways of Cape Coral.  NE Pine Island Rd is a State road, so it was up to the State of Florida (FDOT) to conduct traffic studies and determine if further steps needed to take place, like installing a traffic signal.

Below are the details for the crash investigation which was conducted by Traffic Homicide Investigator (THI) N. Green.
