(October 7, 2016)- Cape Coral Police are investigating a multi-car crash that shut down NE Pine Island Rd last night, and killed one person.
Shortly before 8:00 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a multi-car crash with roll-over and pin-in, in the 2000 block of NE Pine Island Rd. One of the drivers, Lynda Occean, B/F, 33, of Cape Coral, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cape Coral Police Department Patrol, Major Crash Investigator, Forensics, and Victim Advocates responded to assist. A Ping4 alert was sent at the request of the Watch Commander.

ASSIGNED MCI: Officer D. Gray
VEHICLE 1: Gold 2000 Toyota Corolla car.
DRIVER 1: Lynda Occean, B/F, 33, of Cape Coral, Florida.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES: Occean died on scene due to injuries suffered in the traffic crash.
VEHICLE 2: Grey 2006 Ford truck.
DRIVER 2: O.J. Lawter Cardet, W/M, 40, of Lehigh Acres, Florida.
DRIVER 2 INJURIES: Cardet suffered minor injuries in the traffic crash.
PASSENGER 1: (Right front passenger) Carrie A. Faith, W/F, 44, of Lehigh Acres, Florida.
PASSENGER 1 INJURIES: Faith suffered minor injuries in the traffic crash.
PASSENGER 2: Joseph Bronson, W/M, 31, of Lehigh Acres, Florida.
PASSENGER 2 INJURIES: (Rear middle passenger) Bronson suffered minor injuries in the traffic crash.
VEHICLE 3: Black Dodge SRT4 car.
DRIVER 3: Cesar Yamamoto, H/M, 18, of North Fort Myers, Florida.
DRIVER 3 INJURIES: Yamamoto suffered minor injuries.
SYNOPSIS: Vehicle 1 was west on NE Pine Island Road in the outside lane, in the 2000 block. Vehicle 2 was east on NE Pine Island Road in the inside lane. Vehicle 3 was east on NE Pine Island Road in the outside lane.
For unknown reasons, Vehicle 1 veered left and entered into the median. Vehicle 1 exited the median and traveled across the east lane of NE Pine Island Road in front of Vehicle 2. The front right of Vehicle 1 and the front left of Vehicle 2 struck (head on). Vehicle 1 was forced directly to the East where it came to rest in the Eastbound lanes. Vehicle 2 was forced into the outside east lane and into Vehicle 3. Vehicle 2 and Vehicle 3 drove off the South edge of the roadway where Vehicle 2 rolled over onto its roof. Vehicle 2 came to rest on its roof in the ditch. Vehicle 3 came to rest next to Vehicle 2.
Cape Coral Fire Department, Lee County EMS, Cape Coral Police Department, and Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded. The driver of Vehicle 1 was located in Vehicle 1 and had suffered life threatening injuries. At 8:06 pm, the driver of Vehicle 1 was pronounced deceased on scene. All occupants in Vehicle 2 and Vehicle 3 were transported to a local hospital for medical attention (all suffered non-life threatening injuries).
MCI Officers D. Gray, A. Satterlee and C. Mills, Victim Advocate, and Forensics personnel responded. It is UNKNOWN if alcohol/drugs are a factor in the traffic crash. The next-of-kin for the driver of Vehicle 1 HAS BEEN contacted.
NE Pine Island Road (both directions) were closed down for an extended period of time due to the traffic crash investigation.
