(October 7, 2016)- Over the last week, you may have noticed a lot more red and blue lights as you were driving around town and that was by design.
This week, the Cape Coral Police Department Traffic Unit, in conjunction with the Patrol Bureau and Street Crimes Unit, conducted a traffic enforcement wave across the city.
Locations were selected based upon traffic crash data and citizen complaints. Visible enforcement, focusing on moving violations such as speeding, red-light and stop sign violations, and aggressive driving, or criminal violations such as DUI and reckless driving, increases awareness, encourages motorists to obey traffic laws, and reduces crashes.
Here are the results:
ARRESTED: Douglas Alan Schaller, W/M, DOB: 04-30-1996, of 821 SE 10th St., Cape Coral
CHARGES: FTA Warrant
Ofc. Cintron backed up MSgt. Kolak on a traffic stop for speeding. After a routine check of Schaller’s driver’s license, CCPD Dispatch notified MSgt. Kolak that Schaller had a warrant for FTA. After confirmation, Ofc. Cintron placed Schaller under arrest.

ARRESTED: Krista R. Sorgenti, W/F, DOB: 08-05-1992, of 18115 Constitution Circle, Fort Myers
CHARGES: Possession of Cannabis <20
Ofc. Niland stopped Sorgenti for an expired tag violation. After speaking with the driver, Ofc. Niland smelled the strong odor of burt cannabis coming from the vehicle. Cannabis was found in the vehicle. NTA issued
ARRESTED: William Arthur Farewell, W/M, DOB:01-06-1961, of 616 SW 47th Ter. #6, Cape Coral
CHARGES: Driving While License Suspended
Farewell was stopped for a seatbelt violation. After running his driver’s license it came back with four active suspensions. Farewell was charged with DWLSR knowingly.
