(March 17, 2016)-  The Cape Coral Police Department will conduct another High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) operation, as part of its Impaired Driving Project, tonight.

This is the third HVE operation since being awarded a second grant from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

The goal of the Impaired Driving Project is to conduct special HVE operations focused on impaired driving in an effort to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities attributable to impaired driving.

The operation will be a 5-officer traffic saturation patrol that will focus on impaired drivers citywide tonight, Thursday, March 17, 2016, running from 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM.

"If you are going to celebrate St. Patricks Day, please do so smartly.  Have a designated driver, take a taxi, get a ride...don't rely on the luck of the Irish to get you home safely if you've been drinking."- Det. Sergeant Dana Coston, Cape Coral Police Department Public Affairs Officer.
