(May 1, 2016)- A rollover crash yesterday afternoon sent two adults and three children to the hospital.
Just after 4:00 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Kismet Parkway East.
A red Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling eastbound on Kismet Parkway left the road. The driver veered back onto the roadway, and the vehicle entered the median. The vehicle left the median and roll-ed over multiple times, ejecting the driver and front passenger. 3 juvenile passengers remained in the vehicle.
Cape Coral Police, Fire, and Lee County EMS units responded. All vehicle occupants were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver and front passenger, both of whom were ejected, were trauma-alerted. The driver sustained critical injuries and the passenger sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. One rear passenger sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The remaining passengers each sustained minor injuries.
Due to the severity of some of the injuries, the Cape Coral Police Department Major Crash Investigator, Forensics, and Victim Advocates responded. A Ping4 alert, warning drivers to avoid the area was sent.

Vehicle 1 veered to the right for an unknown reason and drove off the south side of the roadway. Vehicle 1 veered back to the left and entered onto the roadway. Vehicle 1 entered into the median and veered back to the right and rotated with the driver’s side leading. Vehicle 1 then rolled over toward the driver’s side several times. Vehicle 1 came to rest back onto its wheels and drifted to a stop off the south side of the roadway.
During the vehicle rolling, the driver and front passenger (unrestrained) were ejected from the vehicle. Both came to final rest in the middle of the eastbound lanes. The three rear passengers (all juveniles) remained inside of the vehicle. All occupants were transported by ambulance to a local hospital (driver and front passenger trauma alerted).
At the hospital, it was determined that the front passenger suffered life threatening injuries and the driver was listed in critical condition in the ICU. One rear passenger suffered serious but non-life-threatening injury and all others had minor injuries.
MCI Satterlee, Forensics personnel, and Victim Advocates responded. The next of kin HAS NOT been notified for the front passenger, all others have been. This traffic crash IS NOT alcohol/drug related.
