(May 12, 2016)-  The Cape Coral Police Department wants to remind drivers to buckle their seat belts.  The next "Click It or Ticket" campaign of 2016 is about to start.  Starting today, May 23, 2016 and running through June 5, 2016, Cape Coral Police are joining with law enforcement agencies all over the state and will be giving extra attention to enforcing seatbelt use.  Officers will be looking for seatbelt violations as primary offenses and will be issuing tickets instead of warnings to drivers who don't buckle up, or who don't have their passengers properly restrained.

"The Click It or Ticket campaign helps raise awareness to get drivers in the habit of buckling up as well as their passengers.  Seat belts save lives.  Our goal is 100% voluntary compliance with motorists on the roadways."- Det. Sergeant Dana Coston, Cape Coral Police Department Public Affairs Officer.
