(May 24, 2016)-  The suspect from yesterday morning's Officer-involved shooting has been charged.

Yesterday evening, Tre Estes-Stalnos, the teen who was shot after pointing a gun at Officers during a 3-hour standoff, was released from the hospital.  Estes-Stalnos was transported to the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center.

:  Tre Sterling Estes-Stalnos, W/M, DOB: 06-17-2000, of 1212 SE 30 St., Cape Coral, FL.
CHARGES: Armed Burglary of a Conveyance and Resisting an Officer Without violence.  CR# 16-008329.
CHARGES: Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and Possession of a Firearm by a Minor.  CR# 16-008317.

Additionally, Detectives from the Cape Coral Police Department Investigative Services Bureau spent the day yesterday following up on leads and gathering evidence.  Investigation revealed that Estes-Stalnos used a stolen vehicle, a black 2015 Dodge Journey to get to the neighborhood where he was found by Officers while committing a car burglary.  The vehicle was initially reported stolen on May 20, 2016 from a residence in the 1100 block of NW 4 Place in Cape Coral.

CHARGES:  Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle.  CR# 16-008141

Detectives were also able to link Estes-Stalnos to a commercial burglary that occurred just a few hours before his confrontation with police.  At around 12:10 am on the morning of the 23rd, Cape Coral Police responded to a burglar alarm at 303 NE 3rd Avenue, R&W Guns.  Evidence revealed that Estes-Stalnos tied a rope to the stolen vehicle he was in (above) and pulled the rear door open to the business.  Nothing was taken from within the business but approximately $600 damage was done to the door.  Rope found at the scene of the burglary matched rope that was still tied to the stolen vehicle that was recovered.

CHARGES:  Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure and Criminal Mischief.  CR# 16-008316.
