(May 6, 2016)- Last night, the Cape Coral Police Department Traffic Unit conducted its fourth High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) DUI Operation since being awarded a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in the later part of 2015.
The operation was a 5-officer saturation patrol that was conducted city-wide. Officers were focused on identifying and taking impaired drivers off the road. Below are the results of this operation:
ARRESTED: Brittany Nicole Hayre, W/F, DOB: 01-14-88, of 1315 SE 24th Ave., Cape Coral, FL.
LOCATION: 909 Del Prado Blvd S.
Hayre was stopped for failing to maintain a single lane and swerving within its lane. After stopping the vehicle, Officer Gray saw signs of impairment. After field sobriety was completed, Hayre was arrested for DUI.
ARRESTED: Jacob Tyler Henry, W/M, DOB: 06-25-96, of2122 SW 52nd St., Cape Coral, FL.
LOCATION: 1600 Cape Coral Pkwy W.
Henry was stopped for following vehicles too closely. After stopping the vehicle, Det. Jones asked the driver if he was ok. Henry told Det. Jones that he had smoked weed earlier and was a little high. Det. Jones had Henry complete field sobriety exercises. At the completion he was arrested for DUI. After blowing .000, a Drug Influence Evaluation was completed. Officer Fessel found that Henry was, indeed, high on cannabis.
Operations such as this will continue throughout 2016.
