(July 6, 2016)- A disturbance at a local convenience store ended with a high risk car stop and an armed suspect in a canal.
Yesterday afternoon, just after 5:30 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to an unknown problem at the Circle K, located at 1829 Skyline Blvd.
Witnesses reported a disturbance involving a gun and two black male subjects who fled in a black Hyundai. Officers responded and began looking for the car. Officers Esterle and Westerlund located the vehicle near Santa Barbara and Trafalgar and a high risk car stop was conducted.
The rear passenger fled from the car stop and Ofc. Westerlund observed the suspect shove a silver handgun into his pants as he fled. Ofc. Westerlund and Ofc. Mullen gave chase and the suspect jumped into a canal in the 300 block of SE 15th Ter.
After a brief standoff, the suspect was pulled from the water, arrested and identified as Wallie S. Julien, B/M, 10-15-1994, of 1028 SE 24th Ave., Cape Coral, FL. Sgt. Fleming searched the area along the canal bank and located the gun. Forensics responded to collect the gun as evidence.

CHARGES: Carrying Concealed Firearm and Resisting LEO w/o Violence.
