Vehicle 2 was North on Cultural Park Boulevard in the inside lane from Nicholas Parkway.  According to the driver of Vehicle 2, Vehicle 1 (a bicyclist) came out of nowhere and drove across in front of his vehicle.  The front of Vehicle 2 then struck the right side of Vehicle 1.  The driver of Vehicle 1 struck the hood and windshield and was ejected off the vehicle and into the roadway.  The driver of Vehicle 1 came to final rest in the outside lane of Cultural Park Boulevard.  Vehicle 2 came to a stop in the inside lane.

Based on witness observations and evidence, it is apparent that Vehicle 1 was crossing Cultural Park Boulevard from the West to the East in the intersection at SE 11th Street. At this intersection, North and South traffic of Cultural Park Boulevard do not have a traffic control device (stop sign).  East and West traffic for SE 11th Street have a stop sign.

The driver of Vehicle 1 suffered several serious injuries and was trauma alerted to a nearby hospital by ambulance.  Due to injuries, MCI officers Satterlee and C. Mills responded. Department Victim Advocates and Forensics personnel assisted as well.

At the hospital, it was determined that the driver of Vehicle 1’s injuries were serious but no longer life-threatening.  The driver is listed in critical but stable condition.  The driver of Vehicle 1 WAS NOT wearing a helmet at the time of the traffic crash.  This traffic crash IS NOT alcohol/drug related.  The next-of-kin HAS BEEN notified.  Case pending further MCI investigation (NO criminal charges expected).
