(November 24, 2017) - The Cape Coral Police Department investigated an early Friday morning crash right in front of Cape Coral Hospital, which was found to have been alcohol-related. The synopsis from the Major Crash Investigator is below:

LOCATION: 600 Del Prado Boulevard South
ASSIGNED MCI: M/Cpl. Andrew Satterlee
VEHICLE 1: 2006 blue Saturn car, Florida tag.
DRIVER 1: Teri Lynn Branton, W/F, 9-30-82, 4903 York Street #204, Cape Coral, FL.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES: Branton suffered several injuries and was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital.
VEHICLE 2: 2006 Jeep SUV, Florida tag.
DRIVER 2: Chastity Lynn Gumtow, W/F, 9-21-81, of North Fort Myers, FL.
DRIVER 2 INJURIES: Gumtow suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention.
Vehicle 1 was North on Del Prado Boulevard in the 600 block. Vehicle 2 was South on Del Prado Boulevard in the middle lane. Vehicle 1 entered into a left turn lane and attempted to turn left into the front parking lot of Cape Coral Hospital. Vehicle 1 drove directly in front of Vehicle 2. The front of Vehicle 1 struck the front of Vehicle 2 (head on). Vehicle 1 came to rest in the middle of the South lanes of traffic. Vehicle 2 was forced off the edge of the roadway and came to rest in a grassy area in the parking lot of the hospital. The driver of Vehicle 2 suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention. The driver of Vehicle 1 was initially assessed and trauma alerted by ambulance to Lee Memorial Hospital. Due to injuries, MCI Officers Satterlee and C. Mills responded as well as Forensics.
At Lee Memorial Hospital it was determined that the driver of Vehicle 1 had suffered several minor injuries and was being released. The driver's medical blood alcohol content was 0.346. The driver was placed under arrest after being released.
Upon completion of the investigation, M/Cpl. Satterlee charged the driver of Vehicle 1 with the following charges: 1- DUI with BAC over 0.150, DUI Causing Property Damage (struck a street sign), DUI Causing Property Damage (Vehicle 2), and DUI Causing Personal Injury (driver Vehicle 2).
