(February 26, 2017)- Cape Coral Police are investigating a serious injury crash that sent one person to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Yesterday afternoon around 1:00 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Santa Barbara Boulevar. Due to the extent of injuries sustained by one of the drivers, the Major Crash Investigator and Forensics personnel responded. The crash caused traffic delays for several hours while the investigation was conducted. A Ping4 alert was issued, warning drivers and residents to avoid the area.
The preliminary synopsis of the Major Crash Investigator is below:

VEHICLE 1: 2016 white Chevrolet Cruz.
DRIVER 1: Cloie Jane Hall, 75, W/F, of Cape Coral, Florida.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES: Hall suffered a life threatening injury.
VEHICLE 2: 2015 silver Toyota Sienna van.
DRIVER 2: Ismail Akeblersane, 53, W/M, of Fort Myers, Florida.
DRIVER 2 INJURIES: Akeblersane was not injured.
VEHICLE 3: 2014 black Lexus RX 350 SUV.
DRIVER 3: Thomas L. Kruckmeyer, 77, W/M, of Cape Coral, Florida.
DRIVER 3 INJURIES: Kruckmeyer was not injured.
VEHICLE 4: 2007 red Lexus GS 350.
DRIVER 4: Miguel A. Silva, 51, W/M, of Cape Coral, Florida.
DRIVER 4 INJURIES: Silva was not injured.
VEHICLE 4 PASSENGER: JUVENILE, 3, W/M, of Cape Coral, Florida.
VEHICLE 4 PASSENGER INJURIES: JUVENILE was not injured.
VEHICLE 5: 2015 Honda motorcycle.
DRIVER 5: Ryan J. Brooks, 40, W/M, of N. Fort Myers, Florida.
DRIVER 5 INJURIES: Brooks was not injured.
SYNOPSIS: Vehicle 1 was turning left from Veterans Parkway West onto Santa Barbara Boulevard, in the inside left hand turn lane. Vehicle 2 was traveling west on Veterans Parkway E, approaching the intersection with Santa Barbara Boulevard, and in the inside straight lane. Vehicle 3 was traveling west on Veterans Parkway E, approaching the intersection with Santa Barbara Boulevard, and in the outside straight lane. Vehicle 4 was stopped at a red light, in the inside straight lane facing south on Santa Barbara Boulevard at the intersection with Veterans Parkway. Vehicle 5 was stopped at a red light, in the center straight lane facing south on Santa Barbara Boulevard at the intersection with Veterans Parkway. Westbound vehicles on Veterans Parkway had a green light for their direction of travel.
Vehicle 1 failed to yield the right of way to westbound vehicles on Veterans Parkway, and turned into the path of Vehicle 2. The right front portion of Vehicle 2 collided with the right rear passenger door of Vehicle 1. Vehicle 1 rotated clockwise approximately 180 degrees and into the path of Vehicle 3. The right front portion of Vehicle 3 collided with the driver’s door of Vehicle 1. Vehicle 1 then rotated clockwise more than 180 degrees and rolled into Vehicle 4. The left front portion of Vehicle 1 collided with the right front portion of Vehicle 4. The driver of Vehicle 5 saw that Vehicle 1 was heading toward him after the second impact, dropped his motorcycle onto its side, and stepped out of the way to avoid being struck. Vehicle 1 came to rest overlapping Vehicle 5 as it lay in the roadway.
The driver of Vehicle 1 suffered a possible life threatening injury in the crash and was trauma alerted by ambulance to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
Based upon the nature of the injury to driver of Vehicle 1, MCI Officer D. Gray responded. Forensics personnel also responded to the scene. This crash IS NOT drug/alcohol related. The next-of-kin HAS BEEN notified for all involved.
