(March 27, 2017)-  A suspicious vehicle led officers right to a car thief last night.

An officer saw a black Nissan Altima with a headlight out, driving suspiciously around the area of 2400 Embers Parkway, making several turns in and out of neighborhoods.

The officer conducted a traffic stop on the Nissan and made contact with the driver, Robert Kondor. During the course of the roadside contact, the officer learned that the Nissan was not his and that he took the vehicle to go on a joy ride. Kondor was detained and contact was made with the registered owner in the 2800 block of NW 7th Terrace. The owner stated that his Nissan was parked in his driveway when he last saw it then realized that it was stolen when the officers informed him. The victim wanted to press charges.

An Investigative Services Bureau detective responded and assisted with the investigation. The investigation revealed that Kondor was wearing gloves during the theft and that he checked several other vehicles which were locked until he found the Nissan unlocked with a set of keys inside of the driver side door pocket. Kondor was arrested for Grand Theft Auto.
