(April 12, 2017) - A thief who stole a felony amount of property from Home Depot was stopped by loss prevention employees, and tried using one of the store's bricks to make his escape.

On April 11th, loss prevention employees with Home Depot, located at 2508 Skyline Boulevard, approached Samuel Iwaniec (DOB: 7-2-88) after he took a felony amount (over $300) of store goods without paying. Iwaniec resisted the store employees, and in the process grabbed a brick and threw it at them, striking them. Cape Coral Police officers arrived at the scene and took Iwaniec into custody.

Iwaniec was charged with grand theft for the shoplifting, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for the brick throwing. He was transported to the Lee County Jail.
