(May 13, 2017)- Cape Coral Police Major Crash Investigators are investigating a crash last night that killed one Cape Coral man and snarled traffic on Del Prado Boulevard for hours.
Last night at around 9:25 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash in the 2700 block of Del Prado Boulevard South.
The crash involved two SUVs, a van, and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist, identified as Kenneth James Wilson, 53, of Cape Coral, Florida, died at the scene.
Patrol units, Major Crash Investigator, Victim Advocates, and Forensics personnel responded to the scene to assist. A Ping4alert was sent to warn drivers and nearby residents.

LOCATION: 2700 Del Prado Boulevard South
ASSIGNED MCI: M/Cpl. A. Satterlee
VEHICLE 1: 2010 silver Volvo SUV.
DRIVER 1: George Michael Iwanow, 59, of Cape Coral, Florida.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES: Iwanow did not suffer injuries.
VEHICLE 2: 2013 Triumph motorcycle.
DRIVER 2: Kenneth James Wilson, 53, of Cape Coral, Florida.
DRIVER 2 INJURIES: Wilson died on scene due to injuries suffered in the traffic crash.
VEHICLE 3: 2012 silver Chrysler van.
DRIVER 3: Michael Paul Soloby, 67, of Cape Coral, Florida 33904.
DRIVER 3 INJURIES: Soloby did not suffer injuries.
VEHICLE 4: 2016 silver Ford Expedition SUV.
DRIVER 4: Stefan Frank Schulz, 4-23-65, of Cape Coral, Florida.

SYNOPSIS: Vehicle 1 was North on Del Prado Boulevard in the inside lane. Vehicle 2 was North on Del Prado Boulevard in the middle lane. Vehicle 3 was South on Del Prado Boulevard in the inside lane. Vehicle 4 was South on Del Prado Boulevard in the middle lane.
Based on roadway evidence and vehicle damage, Vehicle 2 had entered into the inside lane in front of Vehicle 1. Vehicle 1, who had a higher speed, side-swiped Vehicle 2. Vehicle 1 continued down the road as Vehicle 2 lost control and crossed over the median and into the South lanes of Del Prado Boulevard. The driver of Vehicle 2 was ejected from his motorcycle and was struck by Vehicle 3 causing fatal injuries. Vehicle 2 then struck the front of Vehicle 3 forcing Vehicle 2 South and into the middle lane. Vehicle 4 then struck Vehicle 2 as the vehicle was traveling South on Del Prado Boulevard. After the initial crash, Vehicle 1 made a u-turn nearby and came to a stop in a parking lot. All other vehicles came to rest in the South lanes of Del Prado Boulevard.
On scene, it was determined that the driver of Vehicle 2 suffered fatal injuries and was not wearing a helmet. There were no other reports/signs of injuries. Vehicle 2, Vehicle 3, and Vehicle 4 were towed from the scene due to damage.
Based on all evidence, a Traffic Homicide Investigation is being conducted. It is unknown at this time if this traffic crash is alcohol/drug related. The next-of-kin for the driver of Vehicle 2 HAS BEEN notified. Major Crash Investigator, Victim Advocate, and Forensics personnel responded.
