(June 20, 2017)-  Cape Coral Police Detectives  are investigating a reported incident of "shots fired" in a SE Cape Coral neighborhood.

Yesterday at around 5:00 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to the 4800 block of SE 4th Pl, on a  report of shots heard in the area.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with witnesses who stated they were at their residence when they heard multiple gun shots.  They walked out to the street and saw a black vehicle drive northbound up onto a grass area, striking a sign, and then a subject got out and picked up a pistol he dropped out the window.  The vehicle sped off north onto Country Club Blvd.

Witnesses stated that a total of 4 male subjects were in the vehicle one black subject with dread locks was front passenger, a white male with a "toboggan" hat driving, and two white males in back.

Officers located the residents at a the affected residence in the 4600 SE 4th Pl.  Multiple areas of the residence had evidence of being struck with bullets and appeared to be the target. Officers located multiple shell casings along the west side of the roadway in the 4600 block.  They were marked and CCPD Forensics advised.

Officers completed a canvass of the area.  MCU detectives and Forensics assumed the investigation.  Detectives do not believe that this was a random incident.
