(June 21, 2017)-  Today the Cape Coral Police Department was notified that the officers involved in the June 5, 2016 shooting of Christopher Moran, have been cleared.

In a letter to the Cape Coral Police Department, State Attorney Steve Russell writes, "Based upon the investigative reports provided, and the applicable law, I am convinced that the actions of the officers involved in this incident were a legally justiliable use of deadly force, in the defense of themselves or others. Therefore, my office will not be filing any criminal charges in this matter."

The matter is now being reviewed administratively by the Professional Standards Bureau of the Cape Coral Police Department.
