(June 30, 2017)-  Cape Coral Police Detectives are investigating a shooting in NW Cape Coral last night that left one person dead.

Yesterday evening, Cape Coral Police responded to a call of "shots heard" in the 2100 block of Kismet Parkway West. When officers arrived they located a male subject who had sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds.  That subject was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he later died as a result of his injuries.  The deceased is identified as Nicholas Goffar, W/M, 19, of Cape Coral.  Next of kin have been notified.

Detectives and Forensics personnel worked throughout the night, locating and interviewing witnesses, executing a search warrant, and processing the crime scene.  based on the preliminary information collected at the scene, detectives do not believe this was a random incident, nor do they believe there is a danger to the public at-large.

"It is 'all hands on deck' in our Investigative Services Bureau right now.  This is a very active and fluid investigation and we are making progress.  We will provide additional updates as they become available," Lieutenant Dana Coston, Cape Coral Police Department Public Affairs Officer.
