(June 9, 2017) - The Internal Affairs investigation of an officer involved in an off-duty DUI crash in December has concluded, and that officer has resigned.

This case began with an incident involving Emily Zyvoloski, who was involved in an off-duty DUI crash on December 3rd, 2016 while driving her personal vehicle. The criminal case was concluded on May 8th when Zyvoloski pled no contest to charges of driving under the influence with property damage. After the conclusion of the criminal case, the Internal Affairs investigation began. 

The Cape Coral Police Department's Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) concluded its Internal Affairs investigation on June 6th, and it was accepted by Chief Newlan on June 9th. The investigation sustained all allegations of policy violations made; Zyvoloski tendered her resignation to the Cape Coral Police Department on June 5th prior to the conclusion of the investigation.
