At around 3:40 AM, Cape Coral Police responded to a burglar alarm at BA Hustlers, located at 2138 Santa Barbara Boulevard South, and discovered that a vehicle had crashed into the building, leaving behind a front bumper.

About 5 minutes later, officers were also dispatched to a crash at the 2900 block of Santa Barbara Boulevard South.  Officers located 25 year-old Dakota Crawford, of Cape Coral, still behind the wheel of his vehicle, which had crashed into another car, coming to rest in the median.

While officers were conducting the crash investigation, Crawford fled the scene on foot without providing his information.  A short foot pursuit ensued and was ended with Crawford being tased and taken into custody.  Crawford was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance.

Investigation revealed that Crawford was intoxicated.  Video from BA Hustlers revealed the vehicle that struck the building to be the same as the vehicle driven by Crawford and the missing bumper left behind also matched his vehicle.

Crawford was placed under arrest for 2 counts each of Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage and DUI with Property Damage, and 1 count of Resisting Officers Without Violence.  Crawford was booked at Cape Coral Police Department then transported to Lee County Jail.
