(July 9, 2017)-  The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) operation last night, as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce incidents of impaired driving.  The operation was funded by grant money awarded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

The results of the operations are below:

Munoz-Frometa Booking

ARRESTED: Ricardo Munoz Frometa (W/M 05-02-62, of 3706 Broadway Apt. #19, Fort Myers.

CR:  17-012213

Officers located a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of SE 10th Street. Frometa’s vehicle was stuck in a ditch and was unable to be driven.  After Frometa exited his vehicle, he fell down.  Frometa had a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and appeared to be highly impaired.  Officers had Frometa complete HGN and attempted the walk-and-turn, but Frometa was too unsteady to safely complete the remaining exercises.  He refused to take a breath test.

ARRESTED: Amanda St. Onge, W/F, DOB: 01-25-1996, of 804 SE 8th Pl., Cape Coral.

CR:  17-012215

Officers responded to a traffic crash where St. Onge drove her car into another vehicle and decorative pilings.  After the crash St. Onge started yelling at neighbors in the area. St. Onge was showing signs of impairment.  St. Onge completed field sobriety exercises and was determined to be impaired.  St. Onge refused to take a breath test.

Officers noticed taxis and ride-sharing services were being used heavilly during the operation.  They also noted and were pleased to see that many parking lots of bars still had vehicles in them after hours.
