(August 20, 2017) - The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) operation Saturday night, August 12th as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce incidents of impaired driving. The operation was funded by grant money awarded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

The results of the operations are below:

Cody Rice, W/M, DOB: 11-09-1995, of 800 El Dorado Pkwy.
CHARGES: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
CR:  17-015103
DETAILS: Ofc. Barkley stopped Rice for speeding 62/45 in the 1500 block of Skyline Blvd.  Ofc. Barkley smelled the odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle.  A pipe was located in the center console.

ARRESTED: Martin Moravec, W/M, DOB: 06-25-1967, of 4909 Skyline Blvd.
CR:  17-015108

DETAILS: Cpl. Fessel saw Moravec drifting within its lane on Cape Coral Pkwy W.  After making the left turn onto Skyline Blvd, Moravec drove onto the median.  Cpl. Fessel stopped Moravec and saw signs of impairment.  After completing field sobriety exercises, Moravec was arrested for DUI.  Breath test refused.

"During the operation there was a large amount of Taxi and Uber usage.  There were a lot of cars left in the parking lots of the bars.  I spoke with an Uber driver that told me he gets a lot of extra customers on the DUI grant operation nights," Sgt.
