(August 25, 2017) -  The Cape Coral Police Department conducts traffic enforcement operations each week in an effort to increase traffic safety awareness and education, and to emphasize the importance of obeying traffic laws to reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and deaths on our roads here in Cape Coral. Here are the results of the operation for the week ending August 25th, 2017.

ARRESTED: David John Bancherau, W/M, DOB: 9-1-81, of 2050 BaysidePkwy, Fort Myers FL.

CHARGES: Driving on Suspended License (Knowingly) - Bancherau was stopped at the 500 block of Veterans Memorial Parkway East for driving 66mph in a 50mph zone. A routine check revealed his suspended license.

ARRESTED: Georges Anoine Abdou Hage, W/M, DOB: 9-14-82, of 3113 NW 19th Terrace,Cape Coral FL.

CHARGES: No Driver's License - Hage was stopped at the 3500 block of Chiquita Blvd. South for driving 65mph in a 45mph zone. A routine check revealed Hage had never had a driver's license.

This week's operation occurred during a period of heavy rainfall. The afternoon operation for Friday, August 25th was cancelled to divert officers toward closing roadways and keeping drivers safe during road flooding. The solar eclipse also occurred during the operation on August 21st, with no driving issues observed due to the phenomenon.
