(November 13, 2018)- On November 9, 2018, around 7:45 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service in reference to a past occurred residential burglary at the 1100 bock of SE 33rd Ter.
The victim reported that their house had been burglarized and a .357 revolver along with some Halloween candy was taken. The victim’s surveillance video showed that the suspect, Zachary James Busenbark (W/M, DOB: 09/26/2003, of Cape Coral), was a family member that does not live with them.
While officers were investigating this burglary another call for service of vehicle burglaries was reported at the Hooter’s which was nearby. Officers quickly established a perimeter as well as K9 and aviation responded. There were four confirmed vehicle burglaries where one had an unloaded 9mm handgun taken.
Busenbark was located by the aviation unit hiding in some bushes in the yard of a residence where he fled on foot. Both firearms were found and returned to their owners. Busenbark was charged with Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, 2-counts of Grand Theft Firearm, Petit Theft, 4-counts of Vehicle Burglary, and Resisting a Law Enforcement Officer without Violence. He was later transferred to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
