(December 17, 2018) - A man was arrested after his anger over a damaged mailbox led to him firing shots at his neighbor.

On December 16, 2018 at around 7:15 p.m. Cape Coral Police patrol officers responded to the 1000 block of SE 13th Place to a shots fired call after reports of a man in the street firing a shotgun. Upon arrival officers made contact with Luis Santiago (DOB: 3-26-89), who was standing in his driveway holding a handgun. Officers gave orders to Santiago, who dropped the weapon and surrendered.

Officers then made contact with a nearby neighbor who was determined to have been the subject with the shotgun. No one was injured during this incident, and a Ping4alert was sent to alert citizens nearby regarding the increased police activity. Luis Santiago was placed under arrest for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was transported to the Lee County Jail.
