(February 20, 2018) - A driver involved in a crash last Sunday morning has passed away, not due to the crash itself but due to the medical issue that caused the crash. The original news release for the crash can be found here. From the Major Crash Investigator:

In the evening hours of February 19, 2018, the driver of Vehicle 1 (Lawrence Conrad Kolar 1-23-49) passed away at a local hospital. It was determined that Kolar was possibly suffering a medical episode at the time of the traffic crash which caused the crash. This same medical episode was determined as the cause of Mr. Kolar's death.
This traffic crash does NOT count toward a “traffic fatality” and is not included in the total fatal reported numbers. Below is the up to date numbers including the “Medical ruled” fatality of this case.

***There are 3 traffic fatalities and 8 MCI usages in our city in 2018. (There is 1 fatality that is ruled "medical" and the cause of death is not related to injuries in the traffic crash.  This 1 “medical” fatality is not included in the number of traffic fatalities).***
