(February 8, 2018) - The Cape Coral Police Department responded to a crash involving a pedestrian last night at the 300 block of Cape Coral Parkway West. The Major Crash Investigator and Forensics responded to the scene, and a Ping4alert was issued to citizens in the area. The synopsis from the Major Crash Investigator is below:

VEHICLE 1:  White 2017 Nissan Murano SUV, Florida tag.
DRIVER 1:  Sherrill C. Huff, W/M, 4/23/1944, of 111 SW 56th Terrace, Cape Coral FL.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES:  S. Huff was not injured in the crash.
PASSENGER 1 (Right Front): Antoinette S. Huff, W/F, 6/12/1952, of 111 SW 56th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL.
PASSENGER 1 INJURIES: A. Huff was not injured in the crash.

PEDESTRIAN 1: Jamie L. Pates, W/F, 04/28/1987, of 2619 SW 22nd Place, Cape Coral FL.
PEDESTRIAN 1 INJURIES: Pates suffered serious injuries in the crash.

SYNOPSIS:

Vehicle 1 was traveling east in the 300-blk of Cape Coral Parkway W in the inside lane. The pedestrian was walking across the 300-blk of Cape Coral Parkway W, from south to north, and not at a marked crosswalk. The front of Vehicle 1 collided with the pedestrian in the inside east lane. The pedestrian came to final rest on the roadway in the east center lane. Vehicle 1 came to final rest in the inside east lane.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was trauma alerted to a local hospital where she is currently in a stable condition. The driver and passenger of Vehicle 1 were not injured.   

MCI Officers D. Gray and C. Mills, and DRE J. Carson responded. CCPD Forensics and a Victim Advocate also responded.

Alcohol/drugs ARE a factor in the traffic crash. Next-of-kin HAVE BEEN notified.
