(September 18, 2018)- Our monthly "Do The Right Thing" ceremony for September 2018 will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, September 19th, 2018 at 2:00pm in City Council Chambers. This ceremony is open to the public and we encourage our community to come out and show their support to these outstanding young men and women who "did the right thing." The guest speaker will be Cape Coral Fire Department Chief Ryan Lamb.
Tayland Whitehead Ida Baker High School-11th Grade
Tayland helped his teachers stabilize a fellow student who had collapsed and started to cough up blood. His first aide training enabled him to take immediate action to assist until EMS arrived.
Aubrey Tansey Trafalgar Middle- 6th Grade
Aubrey displayed integrity when reporting an incident that occurred at school with another child. She was approached by another student who asked her to vape during recess. She immediately said no and reported the incident to a school official.
Delaney McGrath Diplomat Middle- 7th
Kasey Munera Diplomat Middle – 7th
Delaney and Kasey became aware that another student brought alcohol to school. Their immediate concern for their classmates prompted them to report the incident to an administrator.
Hannah Johnson Christa McAuliffe-5th Grade
Noah Johnson Christa McAuliffe – 3rd Grade
Hannah thought she spotted smoke in front of a vacant house at her bus stop. Both Hannah and her brother rushed over. Upon closer inspection, they saw a smoldering cigarette in the mulch. They used their water bottles to extinguish the smoke and stomped on the ashes to make sure the fire was out. Their quick action prevented a fire from overtaking the yard as the mulch and grass were extremely dry.
Erin Ramey Cape Coral High School - 11th Grade
Erin dedicated her summer to volunteering in a Pre-K ESE Program at a local elementary school. Erin demonstrated patience and compassion in working with students with special needs.
