(January 11, 2019)-  The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a week-long Bike Challenge. This program was run by several School Resource Officers during winter break. During this program, kids got to ride bicycles with police officers throughout the City of Cape Coral. Kids were taught bicycle safety, rules for riding on our roads and how to improve their bike riding skills. We partnered with local bicycle shops (Trek Bike Store & Hollywood Bike Shop) and visited the businesses for bicycle workshops led by professionals. Kids learned how to properly fix a flat bicycle tire, tips on proper bicycle fit, and learned about the latest bicycle riding equipment. The kids also visited points of interest including the public library, the police station, local parks, and others. The program was free of cost to participants and from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The kids brought their own bagged lunch, bicycles, helmets and were dropped off/picked up by their parents at Trafalgar Middle School.
