(February 8, 2019)- On January 16th & 24th, 2019, Cape Coral Police completed two separate vehicle burglary reports from separate locations with different victims.
Detectives Christensen and Costa from the Cape Coral Police Property Crimes Unit obtained home surveillance footage and still photos from a convenience store and requested the Public Affairs Office to release them to Social Media and media outlets. As a result of the release and request to help identify the two males Cape Coral Police did receive tips that identified both males.
One of the males was identified as Dylan Espinosa (W/M, DOB: 09/10/1996, 3524 NE 12th Avenue). During a separate incident, Espinoza was apprehended by Officer Ross which was able to place Espinoza under arrest from a stolen vehicle complaint.
On February 7, 2019, Officers and Detectives Christensen and Costa went Espinoza’s address, 3524 NE 12th Ave, for a follow up investigation. Upon officer arrival, they could see several individuals, one of which appeared to be Dylan Espinoza in the lanai area of home. As the officers and detectives were walking up to the residence, Espinoza ran into the house. Espinoza was located hiding inside one of the bedroom closets and taken into custody without incident.
Based on the identification and investigation, Espinoza was charged with 2-counts of Burglary to a Vehicle and 2-counts of Grand Theft.
