(February 8, 2019)- On February 4, 2019, around 3:00 PM, Cape Coral Police School Resource Officer Montesino-Mena at Mariner Middle School was advised that a threat to the school had been written on the back of a bathroom stall in a student bathroom.
A juvenile reported the school threat to SRO Montesino-Mena advising that on the back of a stall door there was writing in red marker that read, "School shooting Feb. 14 and March 1".
Surveillance video and interviews with students were conducted to ascertain who might have been involved. Cape Coral Police Major Crimes Unit Detectives Hicks and Kortright responded to Mariner Middle School and took over the investigation.
On February 8, 2019, Detective Jason Hicks responded back to Mariner Middle School and met with SRO Montesino-Mena where probable cause developed that Annabella Lilly Reinhold (W/F, DOB: 08/23/2005) was the person who authored the threat in the students bathroom on February 4, 2019.
Reinhold was placed under arrest for a written threat to conduct a mass shooting and later transferred to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

“These fake threats will not be tolerated. February 14th is the shooting anniversary of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland Florida which makes this fake threat even more vicious. Protection of our kids is our number one priority and this has to stop. There are real consequences to these fake threats that can last a lifetime. Parents, please talk to your kids and explain to them that these are not jokes and will have very serious consequences.” ~ Chief David Newlan
