The Cape Coral Police Department will be conducting a High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) operation this weekend that will focus on detecting and apprehending impaired drivers.

The goal of the of these HVE operations is an effort to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities attributable to impaired driving.

The operation will be a citywide saturation patrol.

If you are going out and plan to drink, plan for a sober driver to take you home. Is it your turn to be the designated driver? Take that role seriously—your friends are relying on you. Remember that it is never okay to drink and drive. Even if you’ve had only one alcoholic beverage, designate a sober driver or plan to use public transportation or a ride service to get home safely.

“Driving impaired on any substance is unacceptable,” said Lieutenant Allan Kolak; Public Affairs Office. “It is essential to plan for alternate transportation like a sober designated driver, Uber, Lyft, a taxi, etc. before you ever leave for the party. That’s why, during operations like this one, we will make zero exceptions for impaired driving. There are just no excuses,” he said.
