(July 2, 2019) - A male/female duo wanted for attempted grand theft were arrested due to the combined efforts of a vigilant public, the Cape Coral Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 28, 2019 around 2:48 pm, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service in the 200 block of NE 20th Terrace in reference to a grand theft complaint. Surveillance video was obtained, and a news release was sent out to seek help in identifying these suspects. As a result of this, the Cape Coral Police Department received several tips from a variety of sources; according to Detective Adam Christenson of the Property Crimes Unit, tips rolled in via the CCPD Tipline, SWFL Crimestoppers, social media, and through phone calls. All of these tips led to the development of probable cause for Nicholas Trigleth (W/M, DOB: 12-1-73) and Luanne Shockey-Hutt (W/F, DOB: 3-2-72). Det. Christenson authored a warrant request for the pair for grand theft charges.
On June 28, 2019 at approximately 7:50pm, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office came into contact with Trigleth and Shockey-Hutt in Bonita Springs. During the course of that investigation the active warrants were discovered, with Det. Christenson responding to the scene to assist LCSO deputies. As a result, Trigleth and Shockey-Hutt were placed under arrest for grand theft, with additional charges possibly pending.
“This case showcases what can be achieved when everyone works together. From the public identifying these suspects, to Detective Christenson’s investigative work in obtaining the warrants, to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office locating the wanted suspects, this case was a collaborative effort that resulted in a safer community for all of us.” ~Master Corporal Phil Mullen, CCPD Public Affairs Office
