Cape Coral Police School Resource Officers and the Caloosa Riders Bicycle Club spoke to middle school children about bicycle safety, the rules of the road and rode with them throughout the city to show them how to ride safely. The partnership with the Caloosa Riders Bicycle Club for the 2019 Summer event enhanced the program. Having very experienced and knowledgeable riders who were also great teachers is very hard to find. The children were teamed up with a volunteer, and the volunteer spent time familiarizing them with their bicycle and maintenance tips before they start riding.

The group visited the Cape Coral BMX park where kids were provided BMX demonstrations and were introduced to the sport of BMX. A highlight was visiting local bike shops (Trek Store Cape Coral and Hollywood Bike Shop) where kids were shown the basics of bike repair (tire changing, flat repair, etc.). The group visited the Cape Coral Police Department where they got to meet Chief Newlan. In addition to riding with CCPD officers and members of the Caloosa Riders Bicycle Club, the parents also got the opportunity to ride their bikes with the group. The program was free of charge and available to middle school students.
