Alert Citizen Helps Cape Coral Police Nab Vehicle Theft Suspects

(September 20, 2018)-  On September 20, 2018, around 3:15 AM, the Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at the 1200 block of SE 19th LN in reference to a possible vehicle burglary by three males. The complainant advised that he observed three male suspects wearing hoods attempting to enter vehicles in the neighborhood. 

Arriving Patrol Officers were not able to locate the suspects at the original call location but began to search the neighborhood. An officer found a silver Mitsubishi Galant with extensive body damage parked at the 1500 block SE 19th LN with the dome light on. As the officer drove closer towards the vehicle it was determined that someone was inside. The officer turned on his spotlight and the two suspects jumped out of the vehicle, which was parked in an empty lot, and ran. The vehicle they were seen exiting was confirmed to be stolen. 

Officers set-up a containment area and requested additional resources. The Aviation Unit and K9 responded to the scene to assist in locating the two suspects. The Aviation Unit arrived on scene and found the two suspects hiding behind a residence at the 1500 block of SE 19th Lane. K-9 Suka quickly located the two suspects and they were taken into custody. A Cape Coral Police Department Property Crimes Unit detective responded to assist with the investigation.

Residential Burglary Suspect Who Took Guns Arrested

(September 20, 2018)-  On September 17, 2018 around 6:30 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at the 2900 block NE 3rd Ave in reference to a residential burglary.

The victim advised that upon returning home from work the house had been entered and a safe was pried open. Three firearms (two rifles and a handgun) and a lock box were taken from the closet safe and two packs of cigarettes were taken from a carton in the freezer.

The lock box that was taken from inside the safe contained the family’s social security cards, birth certificates, vehicle titles, and other miscellaneous paperwork.

The investigation determined that Justin Conrad Peddycoart (W/M, DOB: 12/29/1971) gained entry into the victim’s residence via the rear sliding door. The residence happened to be a family member of Peddycoart’s to which he had knowledge of items that he wanted to steal. Peddycoart then went straight to the bedroom, pried open the safe, took two rifles, a handgun, and the lock box from inside the safe and left the location.

Based on the evidence and investigation Peddycoart was arrested for armed burglary and grand theft. The firearms were sold to an unknown person prior to arrest.

Peddycoart was transferred to Lee County Jail.

Ring Camera Video Captures Suspects in Home Burglary!

(September 19, 2018)-  On September 4, 2018, around 3:30 PM the Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at the 1700 block of SE 1st Ter reference a residential burglary.

The victim reported that earlier in the afternoon she arrived home from work and found her residence ransacked. The victim reviewed the Ring Camera at the front door which captured the two suspects on video. One of the suspects had the key code for the front door and was able to make entry. 

While inside, the suspects were able to deactivate interior cameras and shut off the main electrical breaker. The Ring Camera at the front door was able to capture and save video of the suspects. The suspects kicked in the victim’s locked bedroom door and stole a diamond necklace valued at $600 and a white iPhone valued at $600 from the dresser.  The suspects caused damage to the bedroom door.  

An investigation by a Patrol Officer revealed that the suspects were identified as Ian Zachary Wiles-Krater and Austin Wesley King.

Wiles-Krater was located and arrested in the evening on September 12, 2018.

King was located and arrested in the morning on September 18, 2018.
