Professional Standards Bureau

The Professional Standards Bureau handles recruitment, hiring and testing, training, internal a!airs, accreditation, and payroll for the Department. Every employee, including Professional and Sworn Staff, is processed by the Bureau’s Personnel Unit. The Bureau’s Training Unit administers all internal and external training. Every proof, review, assessment and inspection related to accreditation is managed by the Bureau’s Accreditation O”ce. Every policy, procedure and document for the Department is validated and administered by this Bureau.

CAPTAIN ALLAN KOLAK

Captain Allan Kolak has been with the Department since 1997. Before that, he was a road deputy with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office for one year. Since joining CCPD, Captain Kolak has worked heavily in the DUI Unit and still serves as an instructor for the Institute of Police Technology and Management, specializing in the Drug Recognition Expert program. He was a Traffic Homicide Investigator, Fleet Liaison, School Resource Officer, and a Public Affairs Officer. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2019 before becoming Captain of the Professional Standards Bureau. Captain Kolak has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from California Coast University.
